Reel Tech Custom-St. Croix 10’6″ Steelhead Float Rod

Cory Brenner is the proud owner of a Reel Tech Custom Steelhead Float Rod. This rod is built on a St. Croix SCIII 10’6″ 6-10# blank. Cory chose a Fuji NPS reel seat with full length cork rear and fore grips. He chose the lightweight, strong, and near indestrucible REC titanium guides to finish out his custom build. The rod came out beautifully and he was very pleased. The smile on his face when it was delivered to him said it all. He is excited to put this new custom jig fishing tool to use on some steelhead.

Reel Tech Custom–3 Steelhead/Salmon rod builds

Just completed 3 Steelhead/Salmon Rods. These rods were built using Rogue SH 965 9’6″ 8-17# blanks. Two were made with carbon fiber split grip handles, one with a full length carbon fiber handle. The new Fuji ACS reel seats were used and I am really pleased with them, I think they will be very comfortable to fish with all day! Did some decorative butt wraps on the rear section of the two split grip rods. These three rods are ready to bring some fish to the net!! They came out AWESOME!!

Reel Tech Custom–2 more salmon rod builds

I just completed 2 more salmon rods for two customers. Since making the firts ones, I am seeing alot of interest in the carbon fiber split grip design with the painted handles and decorative butt wraps. This was built on a Rogue SM 828 8’2″ 15-30# blank.

This rod was built for another customer who prefers the traditional full length cork handles. This was built on a Rogue SM 827 8’2″ 12-25# blank.

The customers are very happy and cant wait to land some salmon with their new rods!

Tight lines and screaming drags to all!!!

Breaking in a new Reel Tech Custom

I had a chance yesterday to get one of my own Reel Tech Customs wet and put it to the test on some Rogue River Chinook. What a pleasure to backbounce with this rod. I love the handle design and the rod feels like an extension of your arm when backbouncing with it. My 2 fishing partners as well as myself were all able to get fish on this rod and the consensus was unanimous……”what a sweet stick!!”

Reel Tech Custom- Salmon rod for George Freitas

Reel Tech Custom Rod made for Good friend George Freitas. Built on a Rogue SM 828 8’2″ 15-30# blank. Old school design with 14″ rear and 3″ front cork handles…..just the way he likes it!!! Gunmetal wraps with dark blue trim, aluminum winding check. Fuji reel seat and Fuji Alconite guides. Knowing George, this rod will be responsible for bringing MANY Rogue River Salmon to the net!!

Tight Lines!!

Reel Tech Custom-2 more salmon rod builds!

I just finished a couple more salmon rods. For these builds I chose the Tribal Ink reel seats which are a painted reel seat (pretty darn cool). I used a carbon fiber split grip design again as these will be primarily used for backbouncing. Fuji Alconite guides and Aluminum winding checks were used as well. I chose to do two different but wrap designs for the area between the butt cap and the rear handle. These rods were built on Rogue SM 827 8’2″ 12-25# blanks.

Reel Tech Custom-Matching pair of steelhead sidedrifters.

A customer and friend of mine wanted a matching pair of steelhead sidedrifting rods for his boat. He chose Rogue 9′ SS904-2 6-10# blanks for the build. These blanks make fantastic steelhead sidedrifting rods. He wanted to go all out and chose REC Titanium Recoil Guides for their lightness and toughness. He wanted a butt section that was not too long to be cumbersom while wearing the heavy clothing of winter steelhead fishing, but also wanted enough but to have plenty of power while fighting fish. We went with 10″ rear carbon fiber handles which are just about perfect. He really liked the palm swell of the American Tackle AERO Comfort grip seats, so we incorporated them into the build. They turned out fantastic! Two lightweight, super sensitive, steelhead slayin’ tools!!

Custom Salmon Backbouncer Builds

I just completed a couple of custom salmon backbouncer builds for some dear friends of mine. Both are built on Rogue SM827 8’2″ 12-25# one piece blanks. Jon Geyer wanted something with a red/white/blue patriotic theme. Dan Ingledew wanted something in dark blue/silver to match his new custom Willie Sled. I had a blast making them, and they came out AWESOME. The recipients are also very pleased with their new weapons!!

Custom Carbon Fiber Split Grip design:

Jon wanted alternating main guide wraps in red/white/blue:

I did some custom diamond pattern wraps on the exposed blank of the split grip for each rod:
